Wide-spread and found along the coasts of both the Atlantic and the Pacific with the exception that they are absent south of Puerto Vallarta along the central and southwest coasts of the Pacific Ocean. A diurnal large fish-eating raptor that is very common in some regions of Baja California Sur. From a conservation perspective the Osprey is currently considered to be of Least Concern with increasing, widely distributed populations.
